My Next Sewing Adventure
So, I finally finished the fanny pack. I made quite a few mistakes, one strap is higher than the other, but it came out pretty good. I'm going to have to cut quite a bit out of the webbing because my waist really isn't that large and I don't like the strap flopping around, hitting my bare skin - ouch! I'll be wearing this at the S&W Festival - this will come in handy for holding all those business cards and notes about what I want to get, plus what little $$$ I have, of course.
Here's another view, with the inside open. You'll see that the top has little pockets for holding needles and such. Very handy, don't you think? I really like the colors - green goes well with purple and I like the paisley design. it was a bit tricky because there is a definite direction toward which the paisley lies, and fortunately, I had enough fabric to cut toms extra pieces when i realized the direction wasn't correct. I have a bit left over for a second pair. My sewing is still a bit crooked, but I think I'm getting the trick. Still have to master stitching multiple layers of fabric together, especially in tight spots.
JoAnn Fabrics is having a 30% off novelty print, so I took the advantage of the sale to pick up this lovely cat fabric print. And since I receive the store flyer (where is the current flyer? The store already has one on display), I redeemed the 40% coupon for the floral print.
I'm thinking about using the fabrics with this McCall Fashion Accessories pattern. I wanted a nice, floral tapestry fabric for Pattern A, but I couldn't find one with small florals at either JoAnn, G Street Fabrics, or Hancock. I actually do have some fabric that I got from G Street Fabrics that is a bold color, but I'm too chicken to cut into it.
Anyway, the cat print will be for Pattern B, while the floral print will be for pattern A. See the red broadcloth beneath? This will be the lining for both bags, as well as the contrast for Pattern B. I'm not sure if this color will go well with the cat print, although there is a bit of a red tone to the cat print. What do y'all think?

Wow...I'm impressed with the sewing! That bag looks really nice for holding everything you need. You will definitely enjoy it once it's made.
There really isn't a formal knitting thing going on at HC right now. Some of us bring whatever we're working on and sit together after Coffee Hour to "work." So the next time you come, bring your knitting!
again, i am wanting to know if i can get a pattern of that fanny pack. montana kaye
