I gotta mission
A young woman came into the shop last week and was asking about the Coffee Group Ladies and whether it was a class, or a guild, or a club to be joined. No, it's none of the above just a bunch of people -- yes, mostly ladies who get together every Saturday morning to knit.
Anyway, I digress.....
This woman is a teacher in the Balitmore School system (Freedom Academy)teaching middle school classes. Some of her kiddies noticed that she knit and took an interest in what she was doing and asked to learn. So on her own she has been trying to get these kids needles and yarn and teach them something she's just learned to do herself last summer! What a great gal!
I'm donating 30 sets of needles and a bunch of yarn in hopes of her being able to keep these kids knitting and not trying to shot up or anyone (apparently this school isn't in the best part of Baltimore.) Wanna help? Contact me. knitgenia-at-AOL-dot-com

November Already?!
WOW how time flies away when you're not looking. I've still got to get my calendars turned to the right month....makes it difficult to schedule things when you've got the wrong date showing!
Thanks to the Craft Fair that I participated in, I have lots of Christmas gifts ready for giving. The items that I thought for sure would sell -- didn't. The folks at this fair were looking for "quick items" meaning their pockets were shallow. But I did get a bit of knitting done and gave out a few cards.
I've been concentrating on finishing a pullover for my youngest. He has school pics coming up and he would like to wear it then. I'm now working on the sleeves so should have it finished soon. Maybe I'll give you all a preview when it's completed.
I have yet another Yarn Shop open on Sundays here in Maryland to share with you.
Inez's Creative Stitchery 3706 Howard Ave, Kensington, MD 20895 Phone number 301-942-6040
Inez has been open some 30 years -- all of which include Sundays.
I've noticed lots of articles on what to do to avoid catching the flu. Being a Mom of course I've read all. I really hate sending the kids for shots especially flu shots because I don't believe they boost the immune system rather give it reasons to "sleep on the job".
Besides recommending the obvious -- get plenty of fluids, fresh air, and washing your hands, wearing a scarf is also on the list. Keeping your neck warm helps in keeping the baddies out. What do you know about that?
